Friday Five: Beauty and the perfect match

January 30, 2009

1) How would you define beauty?
In terms of people – Someone beautiful on the inside and the outside..Confidence, a personable attitude, creativity, uniqueness..that something ‘different’ about someone that makes them stand out. In terms of everything else – There are so many things that can be beautiful from a newly opened flower to freshly fallen snow…
2) What is the best quality a person can have?
Honesty, Sense of humor, intelligence
3) What is the worse quality a person can have?
ignorance, laziness, bad hygiene
4) What makes up your perfect match?
Someone with a sense of humor, honesty, creativity, intelligence and loyalty. Someone who enjoys things that I enjoy so we can do things together. Someone I’m attracted to..both inside and out.
5) Have you met this person yet?
Yes..I marry him July 4th 🙂

————————————————–

Now I better get to work! I jogged for an hour and a half and then cleaned all morning…I have so much work to catch up on now..Blogging away!

You…are selling ice cream!

So I was watching American Idol last night with Ryan and I fell in love with Joel Contreras on American Idol from San Juan Puerto Rico auditions. OK..not really, but I thought he was hilarious. I think someone should give him his own show where he goes around the streets singing and “screamo”ing at people about what they are doing. Like Tom Green when he had balls and bothered people in public for a reaction. Joel is on the streets with a guitar singing and screaming at a guy selling ice cream and I couldn’t help but squeal with giggles. Give him his own show!

*giggles*I wish I had the balls to do that kind of crap in public! Hell, I’m too self conscious to even make videos of myself for online…oi!

TGIF! Almost time for my jog..then I have to straighten up for company tomorrow. 😀

Last time I had to shovel snow..hopefully?

January 28, 2009

So we got a foot of snow today. This honestly really isn’t out of the ordinary around here, but as common as it may be it’s never enjoyable. Especially when you have a double wide driveway and only a snow shovel to clear it. The snow was so deep and heavy this time that instead of my usual push and toss method I was forced to scoop and throw instead about 75% of the time. The snow was just too deep and heavy to go anywhere with it pushing.

As one might guess, I am a chick so despite honest efforts to tone up my upper body I am not much for upper body chores like shoveling heavy snow. I made it through (burning almost 450 calories accoding to my heart rate monitor, SCORE!), but I am probably going to be almost bed ridden tomorrow from back and arm pain. I can already feel the sharp pains in my back starting whenever I get up and move around..ugh!

On the bright side, I’m hoping this is the last time I’m going to have to shovel anything like this in awhile. My dad has been promising us his old snow blower for about a month and a half now and plans on visiting me this weekend with my brother. I’m excited to see them and relieved to know my the extreme pain I will be tomorrow will not happen again any time soon because of the need to shovel. We’ve had over 90″ of snow already since mid-December..Yea you heard me, over 90″ of snow in the past month in a half. Why can’t I live on the beach? You have no idea how much I’m looking forward to our week long honeymoon in the Outerbanks in our beach house with a private little beach. *dreams*

Valentine's day and my lingerie addiction

January 27, 2009

I can’t believe it’s almost Valentine’s Day! It’s a little over 2 weeks away…wow. Time is flying by so quickly!

Now as you know I’m an absolute lingerie addict..I love the pretty little slips and chemises, corsets..baby dolls and pretty bras. Well, as always, Frederick’s has released some pretty under things in the spirit of Valentine’s Day and I’m in love! There is a pretty red chemise with little pink and red hearts, a pink halter chemise and a gorgeous white bra with red and black heart details…So cute! I miss buying new under things! Once the wedding is over and paid for I’ll be so excited to go to Fredericks or Victoria’s Secret and get some new pretty things..Just as long as I don’t get too relaxed after the wedding and balloon in size from eating! lol Seriously..how cute are these?

fredericks red valentines day chemise valentines day white pushup bra with hearts fredericks pink lace silk chemise

Ugh..so cute *dies*

On another note, I made some homemade baked mac and cheese last night. It turned out pretty good just a little bland since I was trying to be good with my diet and used 2% shredded cheddar cheese. I’ll have to try it over the weekend on one of my splurge nights with some additional non-diet cheeses like sharp cheddar and monterey jack. Yum! Tonight I’m going to make some kind of baked chicken with some brown rice or smashed golden potatoes. I found a couple recipes at SparkPeople and haven’t decided if I want to make the Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken or the Foil Pack Chicken… guess I’ll see what I’m feeling at dinner time!

*dances off*

Tired of "Feebay"..but what else is there?

January 26, 2009

So eBay has been implementing even more pain in the butt rules to their already dumb rules and policies..When will it stop?

They already made it so buyers can leave feedback for sellers but sellers can’t leave feedback for buyers unless it’s good feedback. This is horrible for sellers (like me) because I have run across a lot of deadbeat bidders/buyers and people trying to scam you cause they think they might get away with it. This new no feedback for buyers rule basically allows skeezy buyers to threaten negative feedback if you do what they ask you to do (like replace an item they broke, or else!).

Now they have introduced a new rule where the only payment accepted is Paypal (which the also own, surprise surprise!). This is going to make a lot of people mad because there are buyers who either don’t have a credit card or just don’t trust putting their financial info online (totally understandable!). These buyers can no longer purchase things on ebay with this new Paypal only rule.

These things on top of the ridiculous fees it costs to list an item, not to mention if the item sells the additional crazy final value fees and paypal fees..You can hardly make any kind of a profit anymore if you are a small seller. It really is a shame..I used to love ebay but I grow more and more discourage with how they run things every month. It boggles my mind to think some people are sitting around a big table in some corporate office coming up with these ridiculous new rules thinking they are going to benefit their company. It’s just making the sellers leave! Where are their heads?

Anyways..can anyone recommend some other options? I know of Blujay.com, Etsy.com and Silk Fair..Any other good ones I should check out? I have a BluJay store and have used etsy but obviously there is nothing like the reach ebay has. I wish Google would come up with their own auctions with lower fees and less ridiculous rules. I bet they’d give Ebay some good competition!

edit: I know..why am I writing this at 1am? Why am I up?

There’s another Friday Five! Where did the week go??

Not much new since my last posts..About halfway through Eclipse, had TC Hooligans for dinner and am watchin CSI on dvr with my cute Ry 🙂

On a sad note my ferret Ashe hasn’t been doing to well 🙁 She’s been on steroids for her insulinoma and they have helped but she’s recently looking a lot weaker. She gave me a look todaywhile I was jogging, like she was trying to tell me she was going soon – as silly as that may sound. I hope the gut feeling I got then is wrong and she’ll at least make her 8th birthday in April but I’m not sure. I asked my passed on grandma n grandpa to please just take her painlessly in her sleep when it’s her time. I don’t want to see her suffer. *tear* Love my ferret baby girl!

Soo…when -do- cats calm down..? Even a little?

January 22, 2009

So we got a Turkish Van kitten back in April..He’s always been absurd, but I guess I assumed it was because he was a kitten. For the most part he doesn’t sleep..he just sits and waits. He sits and waits for the perfect time to strike. Strike the dog, the ferret..the rabbit. Even strike Ryan and I! I didn’t grow up with cats so I can’t say I’m a cat person. The whole cat experience is pretty new to me. Ryan grew up with cats however, and he says he hasn’t dealt with a cat more insane than Totoro. There’s just something wrong with this cat.

For one, he is strangely obsessed with hooks in the ceiling that are for plants. He gets visibly upset when he notices them when he wanders the house, stops in his tracks, yowls loudly and proceeds to flip out. Picture a cat doing a jump a couple feet into the air, seizuring while yowling loudly and then running off upstairs. Seriously..wtf?

Second, he’s constantly ready to attack anything alive in the house at any moment. Go in the bathroom, pee, wash hands..open up the door to leave..doo do doo..CAT FLYING WITH ARMS OUTSTRETCHED TO POUNCE YOU TO DEATH. My maltese Zoe regularly gets her ass pounced on like Discovery Channel’s lioness hunting the wildebeest. He flies out of nowhere and lands on her little white ass, holding on while she yelps from the surprise and looks at me sadly. Poor baby girl.

Third, he scratches..HARD. The cats I grew up with would scratch so it would make a pink line on the skin..no big deal right? Well he claws you like a brat and claws you deep. You can feel his little razor sharp hooked claw pulling the flesh of your hand or finger and you have o put pressure on it for awhile till the bleeding subsides. Little pootard!

Fourth, he tries to purposely eat his own fur. I brush him and since he’s a longer haired cat he’ll have a pile of fur waiting to be thrown out from the furminator. What does he do? He tries to outsmart me, get to the pile and scoop the fur into his mouth. Chew chew chew. Wtf again? Why doesn’t he just sit and gnaw on his furry back if he loves the taste if his furs so much?

Fifth..he announces when he needs to poop. Ry has a joke that he must get startled by his ass hurting from needing to poop so he howls and yowls loudly before sauntering off to his box to drop a huge, stinky load.

So those are just five reasons my cat is insane and ridiculous. When we got a cat I thought we’d have a chill cat who’d have his hyper moments and play but that he’d also just chill and be cute. My cat doesn’t chill. He just waits while he ponders his next strike. One year old is still rather young though..so I pray it’s still the kitten in him. I don’t like worrying my cat’s going to attack me when I come around the corner. Furry little gargoyle!

Today was an exciting day, a day of hope! :D

January 21, 2009

Today was a day in history I will not soon (or ever) forget. I sat on the couch with my maltese Zoe cuddled warm in a blanket with the tv tuned to inauguration coverage all day! Whether I was blogging, working, twittering or eating..for the most part I was glued to the television watching history happen before my eyes. Like many Americans I was inspired and in awe by today’s significance in history and the outburst of hope and excitement of the American people. To see Washington DC so packed with freezing happy people all to see Barack Obama forced me to hold back tears. I couldn’t however hold them in anymore when Obama was sworn in and did his speech..I am just so excited for a change and it feels like we are starting a whole new chapter in our history and lives. Whether you voted for him or not, one must be proud that we are a nation who has come so very far! No one is perfect, so I expect him to screw up (he’s only human!)..but I feel like we can only go up from here. I think he will be the one to rebuild our country, our economy, keep us safe and rebuild our foreign relationships…It’s nice to wake up and feel like there is hope again! Go Obama! 😀

On another completely insignifigant note..I got Eclipse today. The library called me yesterday telling me I could pick the book up, but didn’t tell me they were closed. Oh well! It’s sitting next to me right now just crying out “Read me..read me now! Idnbubuyvgt7!!!” To that I say…”Well..Ok then!”

OH..and I ordered all the materials to make my wedding invites last night! Will post a pic when I create a mockup!

btw – Posting this at 12:30am so technically…it was yesterday. yep.

My wait for Eclipse is up! Yay!

January 19, 2009

The library called this morning to let me know that I’m next in line to receive the Twilight series book “Eclipse” by Stephenie Meyer….YAY! I placed a hold at the library at the beginning of the month and have been itching to read the book after finishing the first two in the series so quickly. I’m heading over to pick it up as soon as Ry gets in from work. *dances and spins* I’ll be sure to blog when I finish and tell you what I thought of it..although I’m sure it’ll be good 😀

I don’t know if it’s because its the start if the New Year or what but I’ve been strangely obsessed with cleaning the house lately whenever I am up and about and have a spare minute. You would think I was pregnant and nesting in preparation but I know I’m not. I think I’m just insane? Or maybe it’s just making me feel better to have control over something since I have been so busy and stressed with working and wedding planning. Who knows..at least the house is squeaky clean!

Speaking of wedding planning I checked off a few important things on the list over the weekend..yay! I stopped at David’s Bridal to select the flower girl dresses for my two flower girls (Ryan’s nieces!). I decided on a cute satin tea length ballgown in white with a cornflower blue satin sash for their waists. I wish I lived near them so I could see them go try it on..They are going to look so adorable! I also set an appointment for our cake tasting with our wedding cake baker and spoke to the pastor about what we are going to need to provide him with for the ceremony. Check, check..check! Everything’s coming along! Both the cake tasting and menu tasting at our venue are next month so I’m ultra excited to get a taste of what we will serve our guests on the big day. Plus..you can’t beat free edibles. Am I right?

Well, I’m going to keep watching the Paranormal State marathon on my dvr while I wait for the arrival of my dude. *poof!*

——————————————-

Well there’s this weeks Friday Five! I’ll try to remember to do it weekly so you learn random facts about me. Not that I’m interesting enough for you to honestly care..but hey..it’s fun!

I have to go through my closet and figure out what I am going to wear to the company party tomorrow. I had originally planned to wear the bridesmaid gown I wore at my mom’s wedding..but the high tomorrow is 17 so I am not too interested in being in heels with bare legs outside!

We are going to grab IHOP for dinner tonight and while we are in the area (IHOP is in Henrietta..about 10 minute drive) we are going to stop by Lori’s Natural Food Center to pick up some Petzlife Oral Care Gel for Zoe. I brushed and cleane her teeth this morning and realized her back molars have some pretty icky plaque. I’d rather avoid getting her teeth cleaned professionally if I can for two reasons. One it can be risky for her health and since she’s my little partner I don’t want to to anything risky if I can avoid it. Second it’s expensive at $165 dollars a cleaning. I’ve read really good reviews about this Petzlife gel on maltese forums so I think I’ll give it a try! If it works well I’ll eb sure to share so all of you dog owners out there can grab yourself a bottle for your furbabies teeth!
